Employment Specialist Supplemental Training: Employment Supports for People who are Blind or Visually Impaired Please join us for this one day supplemental training for Employment Specialists working at a DVRS Supported Employment Vendor or DDD Community Service Provider. Attendees will learn how to effectively address the needs of job seekers referred by the Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) by learning about specific compensatory strategies that can facilitate a blind or visually impaired job seeker to achieve success in finding and keeping a job. Attendees will learn about the strong desire for self-reliance that exists in the Blind and Visually Impaired culture in relation to your role as a supported employment professional. Also, this training will serve to familiarize providers and vendors with services that can be accessed directly through CBVI including assistive technology, orientation and mobility, and vocational counseling.
This one day supplemental training is designed to offer Employment Specialists working for a DVRS Supported Employment Vendor and/or DDD Community Service Provider detailed information on organizations and services that can assist you and your individuals in a variety of ways during both the pre-placement and intensive phases. Topics will range from having a thorough understanding of how SSI and SSDI work, how to improve disability employment recruitment within minority owned businesses, how to access technical assistance for you and your organization, and how to access services including resume analysis and in depth career assessment. Representatives from NJ WINS, Project Hire, National Organization on Disability, and the Greater Raritan One-Stop Career Center will share their knowledge and expertise.
Employment Specialist Supplemental Training: Returning to Work After Brain Injury Jointly hosted by The Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey and The Boggs Center, this one day workshop is designed to offer employment and training service providers, employment specialists, and DVRS/DDD Vendors detailed information on addressing the needs of individuals with brain injury as they return to work. Attendees will be provided an overview of brain injury with specific compensatory strategies that can be used to enable an individual to be successful in finding and keeping a job. Attendees will have a better understanding of how to assist the individual with brain injury return to work by addressing the unique cognitive, behavioral, and physical challenges faced after brain injury.
Employment Specialist: Introductory Level This two-day workshop is designed for new Employment Specialists working for a DVRS Supported Employment Vendor and/or a DDD Community Service Provider offering supported employment services. Participants will learn about the models of supported employment, the phases of supported employment, the assessment process, job development, and job coaching strategies.
Employment Specialist: Advanced Level Prerequisite: Completion of Employment Specialist Introductory Level Training
